Vbeam Laser Treatment for Rosacea
Rosacea causes persistent redness, flushing, and visible blood vessels—symptoms that are often frustrating, difficult to conceal, and emotionally distressing. While topical and oral medications can help control inflammation and acne-like breakouts, they don’t always address the redness and visible vessels that many patients find most bothersome.
At Vue Dermatology & Laser, we offer the Vbeam® pulsed dye laser—a gold-standard treatment for vascular skin conditions like rosacea. This powerful laser targets unwanted blood vessels while minimizing damage to surrounding skin, offering visible, lasting results with minimal downtime.
The Vbeam is an advanced pulsed dye laser (PDL) that emits light at a wavelength of 595 nanometers, selectively targeting hemoglobin (the pigment in red blood cells). This makes it ideal for treating:
- Diffuse redness and flushing
- Telangiectasias (broken capillaries)
- Background erythema (persistent redness)
- Post-inflammatory redness following breakouts
Vbeam delivers quick pulses of laser energy that heat and rupture or collapse small, superficial blood vessels in the skin, which are then naturally reabsorbed by the body over time. The result? A clearer, more even complexion—without surgery or invasive downtime.
Vbeam is uniquely suited to treating the vascular components of rosacea. While medications can reduce inflammation and control breakouts of pimple-like bumps, they often fall short when it comes to eliminating persistent redness or visible vessels.
Benefits of Vbeam for rosacea include:
- Noticeable reduction in facial redness and flushing
- Fading of visible capillaries
- Smoother, more even skin tone
Many patients begin to see improvement after just a couple of treatments, with optimal results typically achieved after a series of sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
Vbeam treatments are relatively quick, depending on the size and number of areas being treated, but are usually completed in under 15 minutes.
Before Treatment:
- Your skin will be gently wiped clean of moisturizer, sunscreen, makeup, etc (It is helpful to come with a recently cleaned face)
- Protective eyewear will be provided
- No numbing medication or other preparation is necessary
During Treatment:
- The laser delivers pulses of light that may feel like a snapping rubber band or mild sting
- The laser pulse is accompanied by a spray of cold air to protect the skin and enhance patient comfort
- Most patients tolerate the treatment well
After Treatment:
- Temporary redness, mild swelling, or sensitivity may occur during the first few days after treatment
- It is best to avoid anti-aging or exfoliating products until these resolve
- Bruising is uncommon, but can occasionally happen
- Strict sun protection is essential to protect healing skin
- Makeup can be worn the next day
- Avoiding strenuous work or exercise and excessive heat or hot showers for the first 24 hours helps with treatment efficacy
Every patient is unique, and your rosacea treatment plan will be tailored to your skin’s needs. Most patients achieve desired results from a series of 3 to 5 Vbeam treatments, spaced about 4 to 6 weeks apart. Maintenance treatments once or twice a year may help prevent recurrence of redness and visible vessels over time.
During your consultation, Dr. Philip Eliades will evaluate your skin and discuss a personalized plan to achieve the best possible results.
